The new partnership with Hidden will help the group continue to mitigate bias from the selection process and build its inclusive team further.

Embedded in the agency, Hidden will be using its bespoke technology to remove the identities of candidates. It is creating strategies, which deliver equitable hiring processes that will encourage a more diverse range of people into the agency, and ensure individuals are given the platform to express themselves and feel empowered in the workplace.

Jessica Hargreaves, group managing director at PrettyGreen and The Producers, said: “We are committed to walk and not just talk on the issue of diversity and inclusivity. We are proud to announce our partnership with Hidden and how it will bolster our already existing policies around diversity and inclusivity.

”We strive to strip the agency from any unconscious bias and their unique technology allows us to select candidates based purely on their skills and experience. We will also be working with Hidden to continue to build on our inclusive interview process to ensure everyone has the opportunity to flourish within the agency.”

The group’s diversity and inclusivity (D&I) commitment is long term. It has a majority female leadership team and 16% of their workforce identify as minoritised ethnic groups. Over three years ago, it became a founding partner of the Brixton Finishing School and it also works with the Taylor Bennett Foundation and People Like Us to help support and recruit more diverse talent into the agency and industry.

Early last year, the group also invested in an external inclusivity consultant to offer expert ongoing advice and training, including focus groups, 121s, unconscious bias training and new starter inductions to all its staff. It also has its own dedicated in-house D&I committee continually implementing and inspiring change throughout the organisation, including creative partners, suppliers, recruitment, education and how to advise clients, which led to The Group adopting The Halo Code, which aims to end workplace hair inequality to protect and celebrate black hairstyles.

Carley Bridgland, head of international client partnerships at Hidden, added: “We are delighted to begin work with PrettyGreen Group who share our values regarding creating more diversity across the PR industry and are looking forward to working with them to further diversify their team.

”The UK PR Census 2019-2020, showed there has been a slight upturn in ethnic minorities joining the industry, but there is still work to be done in promoting these people into senior roles, as 54% of people at Account Executive level identify as White-British compared with 88% at MD level.”

The group has also created policies for media and influencer recruitment in campaigns to external communication and programs with their consumers. It recently signed the Pay Influencers Fayrli pledge, which seeks to end the influencer pay gap to ensure creators are able to work with brands safe in the knowledge they will be paid fairly regardless of race, gender, ability, or sexual orientation.
