The move opens the door for Melissa Selcher to step in as successor, who has been waiting in the wings as heir apparent for the past three years.
Confirming her departure on LinkedIn Brayton said: “I will be turning the reins over to Melissa Selcher, someone I recruited more than three years ago, hoping she’d be the person to eventually take my role one day. Mel is infinitely capable and known as a decisive and collaborative leader who brings out the best in people, and I know she is going to do such a great job by capitalizing on all the momentum we’ve built the last several years.”
Brayton has spent the past nine years at the business networking platform having first joined as vp of corporate communications before working her way up to the CMO role in April 2015.
Selcher meanwhile arrived at LinkedIn in April 2016 as vp of global corporate communications, swiftly moving to become communications lead in November of the same year.
LinkedIn is in process of expanding its editorial team to help curate, cultivate and create content.
