SCHNEPS MEDIA HONORS 58 ‘POWER WOMEN’ AT ANNUAL NETWORKING EVENT

Schneps Media kicked off Women’s History Month by celebrating 58 extraordinary “Power Women” at the company’s annual Power Women of Brooklyn Awards.

Schneps Media, publishers of Brooklyn Paper, the Park Slope Courier, the Mill Marine Courier, the Bay Ridge Courier, Bay News, Brooklyn Graphic and BrooklynPaper.com, hosted the Power Women of Brooklyn event on Thursday, March 3 at Dyker Beach Golf Course.

There, 58 fearless females were honored for making Brooklyn the thriving and vibrant place it is to work, live, do business and give back to the community.

“It was an honor to welcome such extraordinary women to the Star Network,” said Elizabeth Aloni, EVP of  Schneps Media Events, who served as the evening’s emcee. “The room was absolutely electric as the Power Women celebrated and connected with one another. It was a night of joy and ultimate networking!”

Among this year’s Power Women were politicians like Attorney General Letitia James, who gave a wonderful speech lauding the honorees; Hon. Diana Reyna, the state’s lieutenant governor and Tom Suozzi’s running mate for New York Governor; and Latrice Walker, assemblymember of New York’s 55th Assembly District.

In her speech, James addressed the room full of “unbought, unbossed, and unrelenting women.”

Speaking to the wonderful women who surrounded her, the attorney general said, “When I look at you, I see myself, and I hope that when you look at me, you see yourself.”

“I want you to block out the noise, negativity, and naysayers,” she went on. “I want you to believe in your potential. And I want you to believe me when I tell you: work hard, never give up, and great things will happen for you!”

State Sen. Suozzi also gave a welcome and congratulatory speech, followed by Councilmember Ari Kagan who introduced honoree Svetlana Lipyanskaya, MPA Chief Executive Officer NYC Health + Hospitals/Coney Island. Anastasia Yaskova, Brooklyn borough director CAU Office of the Mayor, also attended to give the honorees a congratulatory message from Mayor Eric Adams during the VIP reception.

Other honorees included Angela Cooper of NYC Health + Hospitals/McKinney, who also sang the National Anthem to kick off the award ceremony; Dr. Sandra Scott, executive director of OBH Brookdale Hospital; and Itzakan “Itsy” Garay, SVP and managing director of Sales Brown Harris Stevens.

All of the event’s raffle proceeds went to support the Brooklyn Kindergarten Society, an organization that provides high-quality early childhood education and family support services for children from low-income communities.

The evening was a high energy celebration of extraordinary women in fields ranging from medical to banking, to real estate, beauty theater, non profit, education and more.

Each woman danced down the red carpet to cheers from the guests, elected officials and local businesspeople. The evening, an ultimate networking event, allowed for honorees and guests to network, build community and develop valuable relationships.

Schneps President and CEO Victoria Schneps calls Power Women the “Ultimate Networking Event.”

“Feel the power of your success and share it with the remarkable women you will meet at our Ultimate Networking Event — the Power Women of Brooklyn,” she said.

Launched in 1990 by Schneps, Power Women of Brooklyn was founded to empower women, connect them with each other and make them members of The Star Network. The annual event includes a business expo and trade show with networking followed by an award ceremony.
