Mechanisms for Media Financing in Ethnic Minority Language

The joint EU /Coe Action on “ Freedom of Expression and Freedom of the Media (JUFREX)” in cooperation with the Association of Journalists of Kosovo  organized today the roundtable discussion on specific mechanisms for media financing of private media or non -profitable publishing the content in different minority languages.

The panel consisted of media representatives operating in the language of ethnic minorities, media regulatory institutions and organisations, discussed on the possible solutions to overcome the challenges related to financial sustainability since it is of outmost importance to have sustainable and well-formed ethnic minority media in our society.

 

Recommendations drawn from the discussion will be available soon in the format of an online brochure.

This Action is part of the “Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey II”, a co-operation initiative co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe, which aims at assisting Beneficiaries in the Western Balkans region and Turkey to comply with the Council of Europe standards and European Union acquis in the framework of the enlargement process, where relevant.
