HCM CITY — The HCM City Health Department will send 30,000 medical kits to northern provinces hit hard by Typhoon Yagi, starting September 14.

Tăng Chí Thượng, director of the department, said general and specialised hospitals in the city will collaborate with district hospitals and deploy medical personnel to assist in affected areas.

The kits will help residents manage health issues amid flooding and include pain relief, fever reducers, probiotics, rehydration solutions, and more, along with usage instructions, he noted.

Health experts warn that post-flooding, there is an increased risk of disease outbreaks.

Typhoon Yagi, and the floods and landslides in the aftermath has left 336 people dead and missing, while many survivors have suffered injuries as of Friday, according to the Việt Nam Disaster and Dyke Management Authority.

The disaster has also caused significant damage to infrastructure, with 130,268 houses reported as damaged and 57,857 homes submerged. — VNS
